Kodak Gives Their Top Energy Award to Brazilian Plant

The  Kodak manufacturing site in Manaus has earned the inaugural Kodak Energy Saver Award, recognizing the top Kodak site worldwide for energy conservation.

“These are conversations we are eager to have because Kodak can be a partner with our customers in working toward greater sustainability.”

The Manaus Site reduced energy usage by 36% in 2010 through a strengthened focus on a broad-based energy conservation that has been in place for several years.

Kodak implemented the Energy Saver Awards to drive further progress in achieving corporate Sustainability Goals, targeting a 50% reduction in both energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions by 2013, versus a baseline year of 2002. Through 2010, Kodak had achieved a 49% reduction in both of those areas.

“Kodak people worldwide have driven truly impressive energy reductions through a concerted focus on our initiatives in this area,” said Philip Faraci, Kodak’s President and Chief Operating Officer, who was at the Manaus Site today to present the award.

“At the same time, the people at our Manaus Site deserve special praise for their extraordinary efforts that have achieved such outstanding results. As we complete our corporate transformation, such focus on our business imperatives is critical in positioning Kodak as a leader in the markets we serve. Our Manaus Site has excelled as we have given it expanding responsibilities for our portfolio of digital products.”

“In our conversations with customers, we are increasingly hearing about the importance of sustainability,” said Gilberto Farias, Managing Director, Latin America South. “These are conversations we are eager to have because Kodak can be a partner with our customers in working toward greater sustainability.”

The Manaus Site performs final manufacturing operations on a broad spectrum of products for Kodak’s commercial and consumer businesses for customers in Latin America.

“The key thing at our Manaus Site has been to have our people truly engaged in the energy conservation program,” said José Augusto Dibo, Manaus Site Manager. “The more people who are involved, the more opportunities we can develop.”
